Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the problem of adherence to the principles of academic integrity in the context of the active implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in the educational process of higher education institutions. The relevance of the study is determined by the rapid spread of generative systems that transform approaches to learning, completion of academic tasks, and assessment of educational outcomes, while simultaneously introducing new risks of academic misconduct.

The aim of the article is to identify the specific features and causes of academic integrity violations in the use of artificial intelligence, as well as to substantiate ways of their prevention. The methodological framework of the study is based on the analysis of regulatory and legal acts, generalization of scientific sources, comparative analysis, and systematization of the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The paper analyzes the regulatory framework of academic integrity in Ukraine in the context of the intensive use of artificial intelligence technologies, with particular emphasis on the requirements for independent completion of academic tasks, reliability of results, and mandatory attribution of AI-generated content. The interaction between students and artificial intelligence systems is conceptualized as a multi-stage process, which allowed for the identification of risks of academic integrity violations at each stage. Special attention is given to the phenomenon of artificial intelligence «hallucinations» as a source of potential unreliability of academic texts.

The scientific novelty of the study lies in combining a process-based approach to the analysis of artificial intelligence use with the identification of multifactorial causes of academic misconduct, including motivational, personal, organizational, and social factors.

The conclusions substantiate that effective prevention of academic integrity violations is possible under a systemic approach that integrates the development of intrinsic motivation, critical thinking, and digital literacy, as well as the improvement of pedagogical practices and the implementation of clear institutional policies regarding the use of artificial intelligence.
