The purpose of the article is to empirically study the relationship between stress resilience and life satisfaction of the applicants for higher education in times of uncertainty.
Methodology. To achieve the goal of the study, a set of complementary empirical and mathematical and statistical methods was used: the collection of sociodemographic data of respondents (gender, age, course of study, specialty) was carried out using the author’s questionnaire; to determine the level of stress resilience of the applicants for higher education, the «Stress Resilience» test was used (S.D. Maksymenko, L.M. Karamushka, T.V. Zaichykova), and to study the level of life satisfaction, the Ukrainian version of the «Satisfaction with Life Scale» questionnaire (SWLS) adapted by A.V. Stadnik and Yu.B. Melnyk was used. All diagnostic methods were presented to respondents in the format of Google forms; The processing and analysis of the research results were carried out using mathematical statistics methods: for the primary statistical processing of data, descriptive statistics methods were used (calculation of average values and quantitative indicators), and for the secondary statistical analysis, parametric correlation analysis using the Pearson coefficient was used.
The scientific novelty of the research is in the comprehensive empirical study of the relationship between stress resilience and life satisfaction of the applicants for higher education in times of uncertainty, taking into account socio-demographic (gender, age) and educational (course of study, level of education, specialty) factors. For the first time, the peculiarities of the manifestation of these indicators in different groups of students were systematically analyzed and the variable nature of their relationship was established depending on the educational environment.
Conclusions. It was established that the applicants for higher education in times of uncertainty are mainly characterized by an average level of stress resilience and moderate life satisfaction, regardless of gender, age, course of study and specialty. The existence of a statistically significant correlation between stress resilience and life satisfaction has been proven: higher stress resilience is associated with a higher level of subjective well-being. The role of stress resilience as a key psychological resource of students’ subjective well-being in times of social uncertainty has been clarified.
