This article analyzes the psychophysiological characteristics of children aged 7–9 and examines the impact of contemporary choreography on their emotional and physical development. Particular attention is given to the development of emotional expressiveness and movement improvisation in children of this age. The study describes methods that enhance expressive movement skills through the integration of creative and improvisational exercises into choreographic practice.
Specific exercises and techniques aimed at developing emotionality, plasticity, and motor coordination are proposed, helping children better express their emotions through movement.
The aim of the article is to theoretically substantiate methods for developing emotionality and expressiveness in movement for children aged 7–9 in contemporary dance.
Methodology. The study employs the following research methods: 1. Analysis of scientific literature – studying works on child psychology, contemporary choreography, methods of teaching improvisation, and expressive movement. 2. Observation – analyzing children’s behavior during contemporary dance classes, their emotional reactions, and motor abilities. 3. Comparative analysis – comparing traditional dance teaching methods with the integration of improvisational techniques to develop emotionality and movement expressiveness.
Scientific novelty. This research expands on existing approaches by integrating knowledge from contemporary choreography, child psychology, and physiology, allowing for the development of methodological recommendations that consider the age-related and individual characteristics of children aged 7–9. This comprehensive approach ensures the well-rounded development of emotional expressiveness and movement plasticity in children, contributing to their harmonious growth.
Particular attention is given to the application of improvisational exercises as a key tool for developing emotionality and movement expressiveness, which is a novel approach in the context of contemporary dance education. This differs from traditional methods that mainly focus on technical mastery and significantly enhances the effectiveness of developing children’s creative abilities.
The study also complements existing choreographic methodologies by emphasizing the importance of adapting them to the psychophysiological characteristics of children in this age group, particularly their level of emotional development, cognitive abilities, and physical skills. This allows for the creation of optimal educational programs that meet the needs and capabilities of children aged 7–9.
Conclusions. The results of the study confirm that contemporary choreography has a significant impact on the emotional and physical development of children aged 7–9. The use of improvisational exercises facilitates the natural plasticity of movement, improves coordination, stimulates the development of emotional intelligence, and fosters confidence in self-expression through movement. The proposed methods and approaches positively influence the expansion of children’s dance vocabulary, the enhancement of improvisation skills, the development of conscious body control, and the formation of social skills through interaction during the dance process.
Thus, the improvisational approach in contemporary dance education for children aged 7–9 is an effective method for developing emotionality and movement expressiveness, contributing to the comprehensive and harmonious development of a child’s personality.
