The purpose of the article is to analyze dialogic interaction as a key component of the professional activity of probation staff. Communication is interpreted through the metaphor of the «architecture of trust», where each element of the speech act performs a specific constructive function in the process of interaction between probation officers and probationers. The relevance of the study is determined by current trends in the humanization of the penitentiary system, which involve a transition from formal control to meaningful social and educational work, the effectiveness of which depends on the level of mutual trust between the probation specialist and the client.
Methodology. The paper employs an integrated approach combining elements of non-linear cognition methodology and activity-based analysis of professional communication in the field of probation. Empirical methods of pedagogical observation, analysis of conversation protocols, self-analysis of communicative practices, and interviewing by probation specialists were used. The activity-based approach was applied to plan and organize the process of professional interaction in probation, which involves considering the individual needs of the client and adapting communication strategies to specific situations. Particular attention is paid to identifying difficulties in forming a culture of professional dialogue and providing recommendations to personnel in the modern context of humanizing the system of execution of punishments.
Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the definition of specific linguistic algorithms that allow a specialist to transform a formal meeting into a trust-based interaction. The author proposes to consider dialogue in the work of probation specialists as an integration of verbal and non-verbal strategies: active listening, empathic response, reasoning, and avoidance of categorical judgments. The article reveals the significance of critical and self-critical dialogue in forming the internal motivation of the offender for positive changes. It identifies typical risks that can destroy trust (communication barriers, emotional outbursts during arguments). The practical significance of the results lies in the possibility of their use during the training and professional development of probation staff to enhance their communicative competence.
Conclusions. Building trust is a primary task in probation activities. In working with probationers, specialists must clearly understand the difference between conversation and interviewing: conversation is a tool for establishing emotional contact, while interviewing is a method for diagnosing the client's needs and risks. The systematization of communicative techniques allows them to be viewed not only as means of information transfer but as tools for building trust, developing social skills, and increasing the effectiveness of probation work.
