The events caused by russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine have a negative impact on the psychological state of student youth. Under the conditions of military aggression, student youth often experience numerous emotional, somato-vegetative, cognitive, and behavioural disorders caused by distress. To get out of the state of distress, young people most often lack psychological resilience.
The purpose of the work is to reveal the possibilities of the author's method of projection desensitization for the formation of psychological resilience in student-age youth to overcome the consequences of stress caused by the war.
The research methodology is based on psychosomatic and systemic approaches, taking into account individual needs and changes in mental health or behaviour. There were used such research methods, as observation, modelling, analysis and synthesis of practical experience.
Scientific novelty. The counselling algorithm based on the projection desensitization method, adjusted according to the conditions of distress during the war, is presented. The main stages of consulting are: matching the operator to the client; diagnosis of the situation; collection of information about the psychosomatic basis of the client’s condition (additional diagnosis of the degree of the traumatic factor influence on the client’s feelings); conscious decision-making by the counselee about the need to change one’s own attitudes, thoughts, and behaviour; projecting a traumatic factor on the palm of the operator; desensitization; reframing; attracting resources; control and self-control of the psycho-emotional and physical state of the client; contact disconnection.
Conclusions. In the framework of interdisciplinary assistance to the population affected by the stress of war, both specialists of various specialties and non-specialists trained to provide assistance to the victims, in particular, student youth, who are a vulnerable category to the development of distress, can be involved. For the development of psychological resilience, as well as for adaptation to adverse changes, the method of projection desensitization, adapted to the client's request in conditions of war, can be applied. Therapy using the technique of projection desensitization can achieve the transition of the victim from a state of distress through eustress to a state of resilience, which gives favourable results in the absence of pathological reactions to severe distress.
