Abstract

The article is devoted to the founder of personalistics in the modern Ukrainian history of pedagogy, Mykola Dmytrovych Yarmachenko. The analysis of the personified direction as one of the priorities in modern historical and pedagogical research is carried out and the importance of Academician M. D. Yarmachenko in its development is determined.
Appeal to the pedagogical heritage of domestic teachers, scientists, educators, makes it possible to better study the historical patterns of the formation and development of Ukrainian pedagogy. Attention is focused on the fact that in the early 80s of the twentieth century, personification stands out as a separate, new direction of domestic historical and pedagogical research.
Due to the personalized study of the history of education and pedagogical thought, modern approaches to the historical and pedagogical representation of the personality are being formed. Personification is considered as a new method in the modern methodology of pedagogical science, which allows one to turn to the personal biography of the teacher, «humanize» the history of pedagogy, combine and enrich the achievements of pedagogy, psychology and philosophy.
Through the prism of the study of creative biographies, it is possible to reconstruct the era in which educational reforms took place. It is determined that the methodological basis for studying the activities and heritage of outstanding teachers is represented by a methodological apparatus that reveals the specifics of historical and pedagogical research.
It is determined that the consideration of the professional activity of the teacher, his best practices take into account the need to study the dynamics of his formation and development.
