Abstract

Today, young people are increasingly interested in strength training. Taking into account individual morphological features, functional and psychological characteristics of young people, it is necessary to investigate more closely the issues related to their use in extracurricular activities. Searching for new forms of physical education can be implemented in a shortage of time using the simple equipment, devices and the selection of training methods. Modern living conditions determine the relevance of the study of athletic gymnastics’ impact on the strength capabilities development of high school students. The introduction of athletic gymnastics complexes in the physical culture of high school students aged between 15 and 17 is one of the important factors in improving the health, physical and mental functions, and the harmonious development of youth. Solving this problem determines the relevance of our work.

Research methods are as following: theoretical (analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature); empirical (pedagogical testing, pedagogical observation of the training process subjects); pedagogical experiment; methods of mathematical statistics.

Originality of the research results is to improve and experimentally test the impact of a set of athletic gymnastics exercises on the strength level of young people aged between 15 and 17.

Summary. Such students were 64%, and 36 % of young men have normal development of pectoral muscle. Regarding the outcome of research of strength index, only 4% of students have strong physique; 16% of young men have a good physique; 16% have an average physique: 42% have weak physique, and 24% of young men have a very weak physique.
