FUNDAMENTALS OF SELF-DEFENSE» AS AN OPTIONAL DISCIPLINE IN THE TRAINING OF PROFESSIONALS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Everyone has an inherent right to life and its protection from illicit infringements and it is established in the Constitution. The important necessities are the competence of standing up for oneself, learning certain skills of the defense and acquiring the functional readiness to realize them, protecting the dignity and life of relatives and defending their homeland. The optional discipline «Fundamentals of self-defense» causes the great interest of students as to the learning of theoretical, practical and psychological knowledge of self-defense and as to the saving of human health. In the context of scientific work under self-defense we mean actions of a person of a technical, tactical or psychological nature aimed at protecting one's own life, health and dignity from illicit infringements.
The purpose of the scientific work: substantiation of expediency of studying the discipline «Fundamentals of self-defense» as an optional component of a complex program of training of future professionals in the field of Physical education and sports.
The methodological basis is the principles of complexity, system and integration in the training of specialists in the field of Physical education and sports. The deductive and inductive methods of research are used by studying, analyzing and generalizing normative and legal sources, thoughtful filling of educational programs and content analysis.
The scientific novelty is in the presentation of the discipline «Fundamentals of self-defense» as an optional component of a complex program of training of future professionals in the field of Physical education and sports and its implementation in the educational process of T. H. Shevchenko National University «Chernihiv Colehium».
Conclusions. The proposed educational discipline «Fundamentals of self-defense» provides an opportunity to learn practical techniques, techniques of self-defense and preventive protection for the purpose of saving human life and health, it helps to increase the level of physical activity of students, provides the formation of moral and volitional qualities and psychological readiness to act in situations that threaten the life.
