THE PHENOMENON OF O. P. FLOROV AS A STABLE STRUCTURE IN THE STREAM

The article highlights the personality of Oleksii Pavlovych Florov (1866-1954) – a teacher, scientist, methodologist, active public figure, and the first director of Chernihiv Teachers Institute. The phenomenon of a domestic teacher is considered in the interaction with the family, society, the state, students, and science. His ideas are stated as relevant to modern pedagogy. It is concluded that in order to optimize the educational reforms in Ukraine, it is advisable to use the experience of domestic pedagogy, analysed in historical retrospective.
The purpose of the article: to analyse the phenomenon of O. P. Florov as an integral, stable structure in the stream of the epoch; to identify pedagogical truths broadcast by O. P. Florov as relevant issues.
Methodology: research objects analysis and comparison.
Scientific novelty: for the first time, the phenomenon of O. P. Florov is analysed as an integral, stable structure in the stream of the epoch; pedagogical truths broadcast by O. P. Florov are highlighted.
Conclusion: the phenomenon of O. P. Florov is analysed as an integral, stable structure in the interaction with the family, society, the state, students, and science. The following pedagogical truths broadcast by O. P. Florov are highlighted: teacher’s autonomy; personal, individual approach in the educational process; the principle of historicity in education; heuristic method for the development of students’ analytical, critical skills; the development of students’ creative thinking; the assessment based on trust in a teacher. Pedagogical views of O. P. Florov are described as the basis for changes in modern Ukrainian education.
The research on personal qualities development of a future teacher is promising in this direction.
