Abstract

The importance of leisure activities for primary schoolchildren has been grounded in the article. The results of the study on the importance of leisure among the primary schoolchildren’s life priorities have been offered. The most popular primary schoolchildren’s leisure activities have been studied and the importance of reorientation of modern leisure forms for primary schoolchildren to socially oriented ones in terms of the content and nature of the participants’ interaction has been determined. It has been determined that when preparing a leisure event, the teacher must: determine its topic and objectives, outline the time and place; make the plan of the preparation and conducting the event; outline the key points of the event; select the participants for its preparation, distribute the tasks between the participants and groups. The forms of leisure activities that can be used in primary school: discussions, meetings with interesting people, quizzes, theatrical performances, reading conferences, flash mobs, speaker clubs, etc. have been distinguished.

The purpose of the study is to ground the importance and determine the important directions of the primary schoolchildren’s leisure activities use.

Methodology. The methodological basis of the article are: the basic positions of the theory of knowledge, namely, science, historicism, dialectics, objectivity, the position of psychology and pedagogy on the humanistic direction of education. A great importance is paid to the ideas of a competency-based approach to the analysis of the pedagogical phenomena and processes related to leisure activities.

The scientific novelty is that based on the analysis of the scientific sources devoted to this problem, the practice of using primary schoolchildren’s leisure activities, the methods of leisure pedagogy have been determined and the main types of primary schoolchildren’s leisure activities have been formulated.

Conclusions. The authors defined the research as an attempt to outline the initial theoretical and methodological positions of leisure activities for primary school children in general secondary educational institutions, where the modern teacher should focus on the main components of the concept of a new Ukrainian school, namely the new content of education for successful self-realization in the society.
