Abstract

Media education is being actively introduced in all spheres and areas of training of both applicants in general secondary education institutions and higher education institutions (HEIs; hereinafter referred to as higher education institutions) in Ukraine. It is especially valuable in the implementation of the main tasks and areas of educational programs of higher education institutions.

The purpose is to thoroughly study and analyze the formation and implementation of media education in the training of future computer science teachers in Poland.

Methodology. In the process of writing the article used a set of research methods as theoretical – analysis and synthesis, comparison, systematization and empirical – analysis of regulations, educational programs on media education, textbooks and manuals of Polish scientists

Scientific novelty. The article considers the historical aspect of the formation of media education in Europe and in particular in Poland. The main provisions on media education, adopted in April 1999 in Vienna, are revealed, including the statement of the conference participants on the inclusion of media education in the school curriculum of some European countries of that period. The article presents the media education program «Primary Media Education» (1989), which is based on six key issues and according to six key concepts (media institutions, media typology, media creation technology, media language, media recipients, media content).

It has been established that in Poland, media education was present in curricula only with the 1999 education reform. The program topics that were studied in schools are given. The educational functions of the media are studied: descriptive, explanatory, prognostic, technical (practical). The definition of the term "media" is given. The article presents the names of Polish scientists who are at the origins of media education and their methodological and scientific manuals, textbooks: 2002 – textbook "Media Education" (Edukacja medialna) in the working group of scientists Janusz Gajda, Stanisław Juszczyk, Bronisław Siemieniecki and Kazimierz Wenta; 2004 textbook on media, which contained a theoretical part, methodology and examples, Wojciech Walat; 2007 – Andrzej Serdynski described the competencies of computer science teachers, which was also very important in the training of future specialists in the field of computer science; 2008 – Aleksandr Piecuch developed his own system of a separate direction of computer science didactics – multimedia in the theory and practice of school. These manuals and textbooks have been widely used in the training of teachers of computer science and other areas of training.

The article lists the competencies of a computer science teacher, both theoretical and practical media competencies. The modern possibilities of a computer science teacher in the choice of various multimedia through educational sites of Poland are shown (on the example of the site «Edumax – zabawa-rozwój-edukacja»: https://edumax.com.pl/).

Conclusions. The experience of the neighboring European state of Poland in the introduction of media education will provide an opportunity to strengthen the role of this area in education and will be effective in training computer science teachers in Ukraine.
