Abstract

The article deals with the development of maritime education in Ukraine since independence. Changes in the marine education system from linear training to communicative competence have been investigated. The relationship between national education and international maritime education has been revealed. This has all led to significant changes in the maritime system. The purpose of the article is to highlight the development of the content of maritime education in Ukraine and modern approaches. Methodology. Due to the integration of Ukraine into the world educational and professional space and the reorientation of the national system of training and certification of seafarers to the standards and requirements of the international maritime industry, it became necessary to introduce into the practical training and competency approach resulting from the activities of maritime educational institutions identified by the list of competencies according to the educational and qualification characteristics of the specialist. Given the changes in the current education system, it is necessary to pay attention to the development of higher education in Ukraine in general and maritime education in particular. The main aspects of the formation of education, the influence of society on the transfer of knowledge and the impact of this knowledge on the development of society are highlighted in the article.

Scientific novelty. The transition from higher education to maritime education is relatively basic, so there is a need to study in detail the structure of the transition from traditional to modern methods, using technologies set by demand in the labor market. Conclusions. At the state level, the task was to create an educational and training environment for the maritime industry in the region and marine resource management systems. New regulations and technological improvements in the operation of vessels have led to changes in the curricula of maritime schools. Analysis of the reporting documentation of maritime educational institutions has led to the conclusion that during this period the activity of teachers was aimed at increasing the level of scientific teaching of special disciplines, technologicalisation of the educational process (creation of training centers). Due to the integration of Ukraine into the world educational and professional space and the reorientation of the national system of training and certification of seafarers to the standards and requirements of the international maritime industry, the necessity of introduction into the training process was a navigation practice, which is in accordance with the educational and qualification characteristics of a marine specialist.
