The quality of research results depends on the correct application and combination of complexscientific knowledge methods, the optimal methodological basis, taken as a basis for searching, processing and generalization of scientific information at different levels and stages of research.
Purpose: to characterize the methodological basis of the scientific substantiation of the swimmingtraining system students of higher education institutions. At this stage of research, thereare usedmethods of processing scientific information: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodical data and information from the resources of the Internet information network; system analysis; historical and logical; analysis and synthesis, modeling.
Scientific novelty. There has been supplementedscientific knowledge on methodological substantiation through selection andconcretization of research methods for test the effectiveness of swimming training system.
Conclusions. An urgent scientific and applied problem of modern physical education in higher education institutions is the substantiation of a systematic approach to teaching students to swim. For further research, the main advantage for the methods of the theoretical level isin determining the problem field of research, clarifying the existing scientific and methodological basis for the variability of means of swimming, etc.; analysis of documentary materials – study of the structure and content the main program and regulatory documents for teaching swimming; survey (questionnaire) – determining the motivation of students; expert assessment – determining the level of swimming of students’ preparedness; pedagogical observation – finding out the main organizational and methodological features of lessons; pedagogical testing – establishment basic indicators of physical development, physical fitness, functional conditions of students; pedagogical experiment – testing the effectiveness of swimming training programs for students in the natural environment of organization the process of physical education; methods of mathematical statistics – analysis of data.
