Abstract

The article is devoted to the actual problems of the introduction of distance education in institutions of higher education. Based on the analysis of historical aspects of the development of distance learning in higher education institutions of Ukraine and the world, it was established that distance learning as a form of education is a natural phenomenon of the development of the educational system, which proves its progressive development. The advantages of the distance form of education over the traditional one are highlighted.

The use of information and communication technologies and electronic learning tools in the educational process of a higher educational institution is demonstrated on the example of training students in the commodity science of food products.

The purpose of the article is to highlight the actualization of the problem of the introduction of distance education and the ways of its implementation in the educational process of higher education institutions using the example of teaching students food science.

The research methodology was served by the ideas of distance education, the ideas of systemic, person-oriented, activity, competence and technological approaches in education.

Research methods: theoretical (analysis and generalization of scientific-pedagogical and educational-methodical literature and pedagogical education of distance education, analysis of state regulations on distance education); empirical (observation of students' educational activities, conversations with students, analysis of the results of educational activities students).

Scientific novelty. Based on the theoretical analysis of the historical experience of the development of distance education and the current state of development of communication and information technologies, the relevance and advantages of the introduction of distance education into the educational process of higher education institutions have been proven. Methodological recommendations on the use of distance forms of education have been developed, using the example of training in the commodity science of food products.

Conclusions The distance form of education is not only a challenge of circumstances, it is a challenge of the modern state of technology development, including information and communication technologies. The development of educational and methodical support for distance learning is able to minimize the existing shortcomings and increase the effectiveness of the distance form of education.
