Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyse the main value concepts of Plast education in the context of the development of Ukrainian historical and pedagogical thought; to identify the socio-cultural factors that influenced the formation of a unique pedagogical concept of the twentieth century.

Methodology. The article is based on the analysis of pedagogical, historical and pedagogical articles and monographs; pedagogical observations; methods of comparison and generalisation of historical, pedagogical and pedagogical facts, processes and phenomena.

The scientific novelty of the study is that, based on the analysis of historical sources, the main principles, methods, forms and means of activity of Plast were traced, the characteristic features of the versatile education of children and youth in this society were identified, the content and main activities of these organisations and their impact on the formation of adolescents' personality were considered.

Conclusions. The Plast organisation is one of the leading youth organisations that has an impact on the education of children and young people. The transformation of society and rapid European integration raise the issue of educating a new type of person – a person capable of realising themselves in professional, civic and cultural aspects.

To achieve the educational goals of the organisation, the Plast method of education is used, the main principles of which are the good faith of membership in the organisation, education and training through play and work, a gradual programme of classes and tests, a group system of self-organisation, knowledge of nature and life among nature, support for special interests and abilities of children and youth.

The creative use of Plast's educational methodology allows us to encourage adolescents to acquire new knowledge, develop skills and abilities, evoke deep feelings and encourage active and versatile activities. This helps to form a holistic, stable internal structure of the adolescent's personality with a defined motivated focus of activity and the exercise of their rights, freedoms and responsibilities. It creates a system of value and social orientations, attitudes of adolescents to society, the state and the nation. This, in turn, makes it possible to form an active civic position.

As an integral part of the scouting movement, Plast occupies a prominent place in the youth movement of Ukraine. For a century, it has been developing ideological and organisational principles, forms and methods of educational work. The accumulated experience of forming a fully developed personality is still relevant today, in the development of civil society, thanks to the humanistic principles of the Plast system of education, democratic relations between the subjects of the pedagogical process, and the creation of favourable conditions for creative self-realisation and purposeful self-improvement of the individual.
