Abstract

The article examines the role of the supervisor at different stages of creating a research work in higher education institutions. Attention is focused on the algorithm of cooperation between the student and the researcher who organises research activities. It is noted that an important component of professional training of a specialist is research work, which promotes the development of critical and creative thinking, teaches search and research activities and develops the ability to apply research methods to solve practical issues and tasks of the educational process of students.

The purpose of the study is to analyse and reveal the role of the supervisor of a student's research work.

The methodology of the work is based on a systematic theoretical analysis of scientific and educational literature, publications; generalisation of the results of research by other scientists and own practical experience in managing research; clarification of the main stages in the organisation and methodology of student research work.

Scientific novelty. The information on the role and practical contribution of the supervisor to the algorithm of organising the research work of the student is clarified and summarised.

Conclusions. Research activity requires a researcher to have a high level of knowledge about the subject matter, skills in processing information from various available sources, the ability to apply various research methods and technologies, master the skills to identify important things and describe them, analyse the intermediate results obtained, and draw generalisations and conclusions. The process of such work is always creative, it is the acquisition and discovery of something new and necessary for society, even if it is just one's own experience. Therefore, the role of the supervisor in this process is undoubtedly important and necessary. It is the supervisor who can make the implementation of scientific research for the student an interesting and enjoyable process, during which it is possible to develop personal natural inclinations, abilities and creative individual capabilities.
