CONTENT OF CIVIC EDUCATION IN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION OF UKRAINE

Problem. Civic education in higher education institutions of Ukraine is a direction of the state educational policy. In the process of civic education, active citizens of the state are brought up. The result of civic education should be the realization by students of higher education of various specialties of both bachelor’s and master’s degrees of their own civic position through personal participation in social activities.
The purpose of the proposed survey is to characterize the content of civic education in higher education institutions of Ukraine.
Research methodology: based on general principles of philosophy, basic modern provisions of pedagogical science, psychology and reflects the goal of civic education in institutions of higher education - to form a personality characterized by democratic civic culture, civic responsibility, readiness for competent participation in society.
Object of research: educational process in higher education institutions of Ukraine.
Scientific novelty. It is substantiated that the methodology of civic education requires the creation of a system of educational situations in the process of teaching in higher education, in which the acquired civic knowledge, skills, and values are tested in practice.
Conclusions. 1. Civic education should be aimed at the modernization of the educational process of higher education institutions and internal positive changes in society as a whole. 2. Civic education educates an active citizen of his state, a nationally conscious person who combines the achievements of national and universal culture. 3. The purpose of civic education in institutions of higher education is to form a personality characterized by democratic civic culture, awareness of the relationship between individual freedom, human rights and civic responsibility, readiness for competent participation in society. 4. The methodology of civic education requires the creation in the process of teaching in higher education of a system of educational situations in which the acquired civic knowledge, skills, and values are tested in practice. 5. The result of civic education should be the realization by students of higher education of various specialties of both bachelor's and master's degrees of their own civic position through personal participation in social activities. 6. The strategic task of civic education is the formation of ideas of the social value of law, active legal attitudes and orientations in the minds of students of higher education of various specialties.
