CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN UKRAINE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE EUROPEAN EDUCATION STRATEGY

The article deals with the basic principles of the European educational strategy and the priority directions of the transformation of the national system of higher education. Emphasis is placed on the existing experience of reforming the higher education system of Ukraine within the Bologna process. The challenges and new opportunities caused by the further transformation of the Ukrainian higher education system in the process of implementation of the European Education Strategy have been analyzed.
The purpose of the article: on the basis of the analysis of the key challenges that domestic higher education faces with in the process of implementation of the European educational strategy, to determine the prospects, directions and tasks of the transformation of higher education in Ukraine.
Research methodology. To achieve the goal, a non-linear methodology of cognition has been applied. It is aimed to consider education as a complex, open, non-linear system capable of self-renewal and self-organization. The authors also take into account the worldview and methodological principles of democratization, humanization, innovation, flexibility of learning and upbringing, which are characteristic of the newest educational paradigm and are relevant today in view of their methodological significance and consistency with the guidelines of modern education reform in the context of European integration.
The scientific novelty of the study consists in an attempt to comprehensively investigate the modern achievements and challenges of Ukrainian higher education on the way to the implementation of the European educational strategy in the conditions of russian aggression.
Conclusions. In the course of the research, the authors came to the consequence that the movement of Ukraine in the direction of European integration in various spheres, in particular, in education, is an important prerequisite for its stability in wartime conditions and recovery in the postwar period. At the same time, global risks (unification, standardization, threat to cultural identity) and war are among the main challenges facing domestic higher education in the process of implementing the European Education Strategy. In view of this, it is necessary to unite of the efforts of the state, the European community, civic assets, and participants of the educational process to improve the quality and inclusiveness of education, to ensure proper material and technical, technological, and safe conditions for the educational process. This becomes of the primary importance for the development of an education system with a powerful social mission. Therefore, we consider axiological and institutional directions of the transformation of the Ukrainian higher education system as the main in the process of implementation of the European educational strategy. The first involves a valuable reorientation of the educational paradigm to the principles of openness, inclusion, creativity, humanism, and serving the interests of the common good. The implementation of the second, institutional, will ensure the establishment of higher education institutions as innovative educational and scientific centers, open institutions oriented to diversity, justice, and inclusiveness.
