Abstract

The purpose of the article is to highlight the problem of forming the graphic competence of future teachers-engineers in the process of studying descriptive geometry as a section of the discipline «Engineering and Computer Graphics». Solving various types of problems in descriptive geometry is considered as a way of forming individual components of students' graphic competence.

Research methodology: general scientific and specific scientific methods: theoretical analysis, generalization and synthesis of interpretations of the concept of graphic competence of a graduate of a higher education institution in scientific and methodological sources; methodological approaches: conceptual, transdisciplinary, resource; principles: essential analysis, systematic, consistent, as well as author's research taking into account the experience of forming graphic competence of future teachers-engineers studying in the specialty «Professional Education».

Scientific novelty is a characteristic of the essence and structure of the graphic competence of future teachers-engineers, as well as the disclosure of the possibilities of forming individual components of the graphic competence of future students of higher education institutions in the process of studying descriptive geometry. Methodological approaches disclosed in the research process can be used by scientific and pedagogical workers in the process of graphic training of students in higher education institutions.

Conclusions. The analysis of the state of research on the problem of the forming graphic competence of future teachers-engineers made it possible to determine the components of graphic competence of students: cognitive, personal, operational, reflective and to reveal their interconnection.

In the course of the study, it was found that the formation of individual components of graphic competence in the study of descriptive geometry by students of engineering and pedagogical specialties is carried out when performing actions for setting educational tasks and using methods of graphic modeling in the process of solving educational problems. Creating a situation in which the student will be able to perform these actions comprehensively is possible in the process of organizing his educational activities aimed at solving educational engineering-oriented problems.
