The purpose of the article is to analyse the changes in educational processes that took place in the environment of the Chernihiv Collegium during the eighteenth century through the prism of the views of its teachers.
Methodology. The methodological basis of the study is the historical and chronological approach, which helps to identify educational changes at a certain historical stage in close connection with specific historical conditions and in chronological order, and the cultural approach, which contributes to the search and analysis of the theoretical and practical achievements of teachers of one of the spiritual educational institutions of the Chernihiv region in the eighteenth century.
The scientific novelty of the article is an attempt to assess the qualitatively new educational processes and the situation of the educational environment in the Chernihiv Collegium and to highlight the key reformist views of the teachers of this educational institution.
Conclusions. The Chernihiv Collegium was established at a time of relative stabilisation of political processes in the Cossack state. Its educational traditions were shaped by the traditions of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and Western European educational institutions. In the structure of the educational environment of the collegium, one can trace the introduction of the practices of the humanistic school and the European pre-classical university and, accordingly, the reflection of the deep cultural processes that took place in Western and Central Europe.
European cultural traditions also shaped the views of the college's teachers on reforming the educational space of the institution. It is obvious that the college was not only borrowing cultural forms, but also successfully adapting and combining them with local traditions. Thus, the spiritual educational institution of Chernihiv became one of the special cultural and educational phenomena of the eighteenth century.
