COMPETITIVE ACTIVITY IN ATHLETICS

The article presents a theoretical analysis of competitive activity in sports of highly qualified athletes. It is noted that sports competitions are a means of comparison, evaluation, demonstration of sports achievements, regulation of a kind of «competition» in the field of sports.
The purpose of the article is to analyze and summarize the theoretical and practical aspects of the competitive activities of track and field athletes for the period 2021-2024.
Methodology: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, information from the World Wide Web, data from the Athletics Information Base (All-Athletics), questionnaires (surveys), methods of mathematical statistics. The effectiveness of competitive activity, which depends on objective and subjective factors, as a result of the competition, was determined.
The scientific novelty lies in determining the factors of competitive activity in athletics and systematizing the results of all-Ukrainian level competitions, as well as determining the sporting achievements of the Ukrainian national athletics team at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Conclusions. The effectiveness of competitive activities depends on a number of factors, as evidenced by the survey conducted. The results of the survey indicated that objective factors include 40% – financing of training, 48% – material and technical base, material and technical conditions – 53%, conditions for holding competitions – 70%, number of competitions and starts – 71%, and subjective factors include the physical (45%), tactical (42%), psychological (40%), functional (55%), and technical (85%) level of training of athletes. The competitive activities of track and field athletes at the All-Ukrainian track and field competitions for the period 2021-2024 are 119 competitions, of which 25 competitions were held indoors and 94 competitions were held outdoors. An analysis of the competitive performance of track and field athletes at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris showed first and third place wins in the women's high jump category and third place in the men's hammer throw discipline.
