FORMATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN THE PROCESS OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

The article is devoted to one of the current problems of the formation of environmental awareness, increasing the effectiveness of formal environmental education in vocational education institutions, which is due to the need of society. In particular, the article reveals the essence of the concept of «ecological consciousness», analyzes the role of ecological consciousness in the process of professional training of a future skilled worker.
The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of forming students' environmental awareness in vocational education institutions in the process of professional training.
Methodology. The following research methods were used to solve the set goal: analysis and synthesis of psychological and pedagogical literature, official and regulatory documents on the research problem, observation of the educational process of students, interpretation and generalization of results.
The scientific novelty is to clarify the essence of the concept of «ecological consciousness»; to determine the pedagogical conditions for the formation of ecological awareness and valuable attitudes towards nature; to substantiate the need for greening the content of educational subjects in vocational education institutions.
Conclusions. It has been found that the environmental awareness of students in the context of professional training is understood as a set of ecological knowledge, personal factors of attitude to nature as a value, focus on the constructive transformation of reality from the standpoint of nature conservation, as well as motivational readiness for independent actions to protect the natural environment in professional sphere The formation of environmental awareness among students of vocational education institutions in the process of professional training is ensured by a comprehensive set of pedagogical conditions: increased attention to students' awareness of the professional importance of environmental literacy; showing real opportunities for solving environmental problems; achieving of students' understanding of the essence of environmental problems based on systematicity, awareness and completeness of knowledge acquisition; the focus of the pedagogical process on the acquisition of experience in environmental protection activities by students.
