Abstract

The rapid development of digital information technologies and the public use of the GPT chat, in particular, has exacerbated the issue of forms and methods of using this technology in the educational process for the benefit of higher education students and teachers.
The purpose of this article is to propose optimal methods of interaction of students with the GPT chat for the development of grammatical competence within the framework of learning English.
Methodology: the content of the work is based on the authors' own experience and is supported by scientific research. Thus, while the issue of the positive and negative effects of GPT chat on education as a whole is currently being actively researched, the scientific novelty of this work lies in the fact that, for the first time in domestic methodology, a system of tasks and exercises has been developed for the development of grammatical competence of students using the GPT chat.
It has been concluded that GPT chat has a strong potential to increase interactivity and individual approach in learning English. Students at universities can use the GPT chat as a source of information, a generator of written and audio texts in a foreign language, an interlocutor who is a native speaker of the language being studied, as a teacher who generates tasks and controls them.
Working with the GPT chat can be a stage of preparation for further work in the classroom or a form of independent work. The suggested tasks and exercises have a clear communicative direction and are divided into several categories based on the students’ roles: from a recipient to a creator.
