Purpose. The purpose of the study is to identify methodological approaches and principles based on leading ideas and concepts that drive the development of intercultural competence among officers of the operational command level of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is particularly significant in the context of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration, expanding cooperation with NATO member states, and participation in multinational operations.
Methodology. The research is grounded in the analysis of modern methodological approaches and principles essential for the development of intercultural competence in the military sphere. To achieve the research objectives, a comprehensive method was applied, incorporating the integrated use of leading ideas and principles from contemporary methodological approaches for developing intercultural competence among officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Scientific Novelty. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the adaptation of key ideas and principles of modern methodological approaches for the development of intercultural competence among officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These adaptations facilitate the targeted development of intercultural competence during professional military training while considering the specificities of professional military activities in the context of multinational interactions among service members from different countries. This is especially crucial today, as ensuring the professional success of Ukrainian officers in complex and diverse intercultural engagements requires rapid adaptation to cultural differences among interaction participants, which significantly impacts the effectiveness of joint operational tasks.
Conclusions. The article clarifies the essence of the terms «methodology» and «methodological approach» and identifies the main methodological approaches (axiological, cultural, systemic, contextual, competency-based, subject-activity, and andragogical). It has been determined that these methodological approaches provide a reliable foundation for improving professional training programs for officers in the intercultural dimension. This enhancement prepares them to operate effectively in multinational environments and ensures their readiness for efficient intercultural interactions.
