Abstract

The article is devoted to the formation of professional competence of future physical education teachers of secondary general education institutions. The characteristics of the concepts of «competence», «professional competence» of physical education teachers are presented. The list of the main educational components of bachelor's training is given.

The purpose of the article is to consider the problem of forming professional competence in future physical education teachers for professional activity in secondary education institutions.

Methodology. The methodological basis for solving the problem of forming professional competence of future physical education teachers were scientific works of leading scientists and directive documents of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The study used general scientific methods, namely: analysis of scientific and methodological literary sources, observation, conversation, survey, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics. The pedagogical experiment was carried out in Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University in 2022–2024, in which third-year students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports (42 people; 22 – in control group and 20 experimental group) participated.

Scientific novelty. It has been established that the professional competence of students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports depends on the level of knowledge, skills and abilities.

Conclusions. It has been proven that the professional competence of a physical education teacher is a complex dynamic personal formation consisting of knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience hierarchically interconnected with personal qualities that are manifested in various components of professional activity.
