MEDIA CULTURE AND INFORMATION LITERACY OF THE EDUCATOR THROUGH THE PRISM OF CIVIC SELF-EXPRESSION

The article highlights the peculiarities of the correlation of a teacher's media culture and information literacy with his civic self-expression.
The purpose of the work is to reveal the essence of the concept of «media culture», outline the transformation of a teacher's media education competencies into an effective tool of his civic position, and determine the role of information literacy as a means of professional self-realization in the conditions of an information society.
Methodology. The methodological basis of the article was the scientific works of Ukrainian scientists dedicated to the problem of developing media culture and information literacy of education seekers and issues of civic self-affirmation. In the research process, methods of theoretical analysis of historical and pedagogical, pedagogical and psychological literature, systematization, classification, analysis and synthesis, and generalization were used.
Scientific novelty. Based on the analysis of scientific works, the features of the correlation of media culture and information literacy of a teacher with his civic self-expression were determined.
Conclusions. In the conditions of modern information warfare and digital transformation of society, the media culture and information literacy of a teacher acquire a deep value content, becoming the foundation for the civic self-expression of a teacher and higher education lecturer as an intellectual leader. A high level of media culture of a teacher is a strategic priority for Ukrainian education, which affirms national identity and contributes to the development of a sustainable civil society. The media culture of a modern teacher is not only the ability to verify content or counteract fakes, but also a conscious strategy of behavior in the media space, through the prism of civic self-expression, it is transformed into the ability to professionally and ethically broadcast democratic values, to protect the information sovereignty of the state and to form a stable immunity to manipulation among education seekers. The level of media culture of a teacher, lecturer directly correlates with his active civic position, since today a teacher acts not only as a translator of knowledge, but also as an example of a carrier of critical thinking, his self-expression in social networks, public space, and the educational process becomes a tool for educating a conscious citizen.
